Working/ Operating Principle of Limpet Coil Reactor Vessel
Limpet reactor/coil reactor vessel is manufacture by welding a half pipe around the outside of the vessel to create a semi-circular flow channel. In this vessel, the heat transfer fluid passes through the channel in a plug flow fashion. Large reactors use numerous coils to deliver the heat transfer fluid.
The plug flow features of a limpet/coil reactor allow faster movement of the heat transfer fluid, desirable for better temperature control. Like the single jacket, the temperature in the coil/limpet reactor is regulated to control heating or cooling. Limpet Coil Reactor vessel provides good distribution of heat transfer fluid which avoids the problems of non-uniform heating or cooling between the sidewalls and bottom dish.
